We wrap up our Chapel this school year with a series all about the Gospel! The Gospel is the Good News that we believe Jesus came into the world to save us from our sins, to forgive us, to love us and to help us be the best we can be! Our scripture for this series is “My God is everywhere, because He is with me in my heart.” Psalm 139
Week 1: “We believe”: We started out learning about how Jesus is our Savior! We continue studying about Easter and the Jesus’ greatest miracle ever – his resurrection. We talked about Thomas and how he doubted while the other disciples believed. Jesus found Thomas and showed Thomas his hands and side where he suffered. Thomas proclaimed, “my Lord and my God!” We talked about the word believe and what it means.
Week 2: “We are FORGIVEN”: This week we talk about WHY Jesus had to die. I mean, if He was truly God, couldn’t he do whatever he wanted? Couldn’t he save himself? We explore the word SIN and look into how Jesus’s passion was all for the forgiveness of our sins. We write our sins on a hard-boiled egg in black and blue markers. The egg is hard and ugly. This is like our heart without Jesus’ forgiveness. Then, we crack the shell, peel the wins away and reveal the white, soft new heart that Jesus gives. And on the inside, is the bright and sunny middle that is the Holy Spirit – giving us Joy as we live for Him!
Week 3: “We have the HOLY SPIRIT”: Next week, we will talk about all 3 parts of the Trinity – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We will learn that each part is unique but they cannot be separated. They are one. We will explore the greatest mystery of all – the Holy Spirit- and how He comes to live within us so that we are never alone.
Week 4: “We CAN DO ALL THINGS”: In this lesson, we will look at “The Little Engine that Could” by Watty Piper. We will learn that God’s best for us is POSSIBLE because God is on our side, lives within us, and helps us at all times – giving us strength & courage to persevere!
Week 5: God loves us – NO MATTER WHAT: In this lesson, we learn that there is nothing that can separate us from the LOVE of GOD!
God be with you!~Sue
